  2.                         PHONE HACKING SUSPECT IN COURT

  5.         AN ALLEGED ringleader of a $148,000 telephone hacking operation 
  6. appeared in a Perth Magistrates Court yesterday.
  7.  
  8.         [ SIN! ], 19, student was charged with three counts of unlawfully
  9. inserting data into a voice mail box on a Telecom Message Bank and one
  10. count of obtaining access to data stored on a computer.
  11.  
  12.         The offences were allegedly commited by manipulating the voicemail
  13. boxes of two companies, Smith & Nephew of Victoria and V-mark Australia
  14. of North Sydney.

  16.         On Friday, an alleged hacker who turned 18 in January appeared in
  17. the Magistrates Court and a 17 year-old appeard in the Childrens Court on
  18. similar charges.
  19.  
  20.         [ SIN! ] is alleged to have commited the offences between October
  21. and March 28. He was not required to plead and has been ordered to reappear
  22. on April 26.

  24.         The charges come after a long investiagtion by the Australian
  25. Federal Police.
