PHONE HACKING SUSPECT IN COURT
Taken from West Australian
AN ALLEGED ringleader of a $148,000 telephone hacking operation
appeared in a Perth Magistrates Court yesterday.
[ SIN! ], 19, student was charged with three counts of unlawfully
inserting data into a voice mail box on a Telecom Message Bank and one
count of obtaining access to data stored on a computer.
The offences were allegedly commited by manipulating the voicemail
boxes of two companies, Smith & Nephew of Victoria and V-mark Australia
of North Sydney.
On Friday, an alleged hacker who turned 18 in January appeared in
the Magistrates Court and a 17 year-old appeard in the Childrens Court on
similar charges.
[ SIN! ] is alleged to have commited the offences between October
and March 28. He was not required to plead and has been ordered to reappear
on April 26.
The charges come after a long investiagtion by the Australian
Federal Police.
